What Next – Climate Watch

African statement

Here is an excellent statement from Africa that cuts across most of the key issues on climate change.

“Towards a Farmer and Civil Society-led Roadmap on Food Security,
Rural Livelihoods, Farmers Rights and Climate Change”
Joint Statement by Farmers and Civil Society Organizations to the Preparatory Conference on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change 6-8 September 2010, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

The report clearly spells out how a 2-degree target is unacceptable to African farmers who would suffer enormously from the consequences of such warming (as Africa is both more vulnerable, and global warming will hit the African continent about 50% harder than the global average).
